    Travelling from Port Blair to Barren Island is a full-day, lengthy, and extraordinary adventure to witness India’s first and only active volcano.     A fortnightly liveaboard voyage, Sindhu, was inaugurated on Friday, 24th October 2025, by the Directorate of Shipping Services and the Andaman and Nicobar Administration. The voyage departs from Haddo Wharf Jetty, Port Blair, for a round trip to Barren Island.

    Accommodating 439 passengers, the tickets for the vessel will be available for online booking at the rate of ₹8310, ₹6340, ₹4290, and ₹3180 per passenger for Coral Suite, Reef Suite, Island Breeze, and Lagoon Dormitory accommodation, respectively, through the DSS e ticketing portal from October 11, 2025. Passengers can purchase a food coupon for ₹2,000 per person from the reception counter after boarding the ferry. 

    As far as private charters and yachts are concerned, they offer refreshments, fishing equipment, snorkeling gear, and scuba diving kits, along with all necessary permits and licenses. Trips from Port Blair usually depart between 5:00 and 5:30 AM and return from Barren Island by 3:30 PM.
