The vegetable bowl of the Andaman Archipelago, Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep), is a beautiful, quiet holiday destination appreciated for its less-crowded, pollution-free, and compact setting, ideal for those seeking a peaceful, laid-back experience. With no road connectivity, limited helicopter service (for government officials and emergencies only), and seaplane service between Port Blair and Neil Island not yet operational, reaching Neil requires planning by sea via ferries.

As COVID-19 has limited direct ferries to Neil Island from Port Blair, which previously operated on this route, travellers currently have to follow the popular tri-destination route Port Blair → Havelock Island → Neil Island.

As of now, private ferries on the Port Blair-Neil route are not operational; there are only 1-2 services per day during peak season, so tourists must visit Havelock first and then travel to Neil Island as the final destination. Otherwise, book a government ferry (bookable up to 3-4 days in advance, as islanders receive significant subsidies), or opt for charter boats (expensive).

Port Blair to Neil Island Private Ferry : What You Need to Know

Planning to visit Neil Island directly from Port Blair? Here’s the reality: the ideal route is Port Blair → Havelock → Neil → Port Blair.

Before COVID-19, operators like Green Ocean and Makruzz ran regular direct ferries. Post-2020, that changed dramatically. Private ferry services on this route have largely stopped. Today, only Makruzz and ITT Majestic run 1–2 direct ferries daily, and that too only during peak season (October to January). The schedule isn’t consistent either.

Why the Havelock Stop Makes Sense

Most travelers visit Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) first for good reason. It’s bigger, has more hotels, restaurants, and water activities. So, ferry schedules heavily favor the Havelock to Neil route.

Your Options

If direct tickets aren’t available, consider the government ferry (tickets open 3 days before travel) or charter a private boat if budget permits.

Smart tip: Book ferry tickets first, then hotels. Ferry availability drives your itinerary, not the other way around.

Port Blair to Neil Island Charter Boat

Charter boats are the most exclusive and expensive travel option between Port Blair and Neil Island, operated by private firms offering personalized experiences ideal for families or large groups. These boats operate on request with customizable schedules and complete privacy. Advanced booking is essential to avoid unavailability during peak seasons. Maximum 8 passengers can be accommodated.

Ticket prices: Charter boats typically cost around ₹90000 for the entire trip, varying by luxury level, boat size, and passenger count.

Amenities: Premium seating, scenic island views, 2-3 crew members for support, and complimentary refreshments including breakfast, snacks, non-alcoholic drinks, and lunch (veg/non-veg). Activities like game fishing, snorkeling, and scuba diving available (extra charges).

Popular operators include Andaman Aquaholic, Skysail, and Andaman Spirit Charters.

Booking: Reserve online through our website or in person at offices, hotel front desks, or local travel agencies. We can arrange your private charter journey for a hassle-free vacation.

Port Blair to Neil Island Journey Tips

Traveling from Port Blair to Neil Island, one of Andaman’s most stunning destinations, can be exciting yet demands careful planning to ensure a smooth, hassle-free experience.

Reach early:

Get to the jetty at least 1-2 hours before departure. This gives you ample time for check-in, baggage screening, and security checks without any last-minute stress.

Organize your documents:

Keep printed or digital copies of your e-ticket and a valid government-issued photo ID for each passenger ready before approaching the counter.

Select the right ferry operator:

Choose based on what matters most to you—speed, budget, open-deck views, or onboard amenities. Each operator has its strengths, so pick one that fits your travel style.

Travel in the morning:

Morning ferries are your best bet. The sea is calmer, departures are more punctual, and you’re less likely to face choppy waters or delays compared to afternoon sailings.

Pack smart essentials:

Carry motion sickness tablets, light snacks, a shawl (AC can get chilly), a portable charger, and a refillable water bottle in your handbag.

Choose your seat wisely:

If you’re prone to seasickness, opt for middle-row seats to minimize side-to-side rocking. Take anti-nausea medication 30 minutes before boarding.

Stay within baggage limits:

Most ferries allow 20-25 kg per passenger. Overpacking can lead to boarding delays or extra charges, so travel light.

Respect onboard safety rules:

Follow all cabin regulations strictly. Avoid standing near emergency exits, don’t move around unnecessarily, and refrain from using tobacco products onboard.

Avoid tight connections:

Never schedule your ferry on the same day as your flight arrival. Keep a buffer of at least 2-3 hours between landing and departure to avoid missing your ferry.

Stay weather-aware:

Check sea conditions and cancellation alerts, especially during monsoon months. Have a backup plan or travel insurance in case sailings get canceled so you can reschedule or claim a refund without hassle.
